Welcome from President Anderson

We have launched an exciting new chapter of IIT history. The Board of Trustees has enthusiastically endorsed plans for a university-wide planning process aimed at reestablishing IIT as a major force in higher education.

IIT was founded on the bold vision of Frank W. Gunsaulus and the commitment of Phillip Danforth Armour. IIT is a leader in research and in engineering education, an innovator in architecture and design, and a magnet for the finest young men and women from around the globe. Throughout our history, we have been guided by a commitment to world-class excellence. This level of excellence is only attained through constant renewal and rededication.

We have already called on many members of the IIT community—our faculty, staff, students, and trustees—to join a steering committee that is charged with helping IIT determine this future course.

As we move ahead, we will continue to need each of you to help us shape, and ultimately implement, the plans that are being developed.

I look forward to hearing your voices and working over the next year with all of the communities that make IIT an excellent institution, dedicated to becoming even greater.
